Over the past few weeks, I’ve had colleagues from around the world reach out to me to remark on how effectively B.C. has been flattening the curve of COVID-19. Amidst such unsettling days, these messages bring me so much pride and optimism, reminding me of the brilliant leaders behind our province’s quick response to the pandemic.
And I’m not alone — media coverage continues to highlight how appreciative British Columbians are of Dr. Bonnie Henry, our provincial health officer who’s at the forefront of B.C.’s action on COVID-19. From fan clubs with members proclaiming that they listen to Henry’s advice more than they they listen to their own mother, to op-eds praising her “clear, factual and surprisingly intimate” approach during press conferences, it’s been especially inspiring to watch an entire province of people recognize and rally behind Henry, as she works to keep us and our loved one safe.
It’s not every day that medicine and politics intersect so visibly, which makes it all the more inspiring to watch a physician effectively lead British Columbia through this crisis.
I would love to hear how you’ve spent the last month as we all stay home under Henry’s guidance to help flatten the curve. Connect with us on Instagram or by email.
