Ultherapy is one of my absolute favourite treatments. I have personally been doing it about once or twice each year since 2012, and regularly recommend it to my patients once they enter ‘Advanced Approach’ as part of their 360° plan. Ultherapy uses ultrasound technology to contour and tighten deeper layers of skin, for results that we often refer to as a non-surgical face lift.
Here are answers to some common Ultherapy FAQs.
- Where should you get Ultherapy?
I think Ultherapy is a fabulous option for the lower face and neck. These areas have thicker skin which requires a treatment that can reach greater depths to stimulate fibroblast that will in turn produce more collagen and elastin — and Ultherapy’s ultrasound technology can do exactly that.
- What should you expect from the treatment?
I typically take a couple of Ibuprofen about an hour beforehand and am fine, although it can be uncomfortable along the jawline in a few areas. A single treatment can last anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half, depending on the area you’re treating.
- What sorts of results will you see?
I’ve found that my skin is significantly smoother and has a healthier elasticity and texture from my stimulated collagen and elastin production. The skin on my lower face and neck are not thinning anymore as they normally would at my age. Everyone needs maintenance treatments to keep their collagen banks healthy as they age, and Ultherapy is an especially effective approach.
- What treatments should be used in combination with Ultherapy?
I will often recommend Ultherapy in combination with botulinum toxin neuromodulators, fillers and other energy-based treatments, in order to keep all areas of the face and neck looking equally revitalized and healthy.
